At that moment the pain struck again causing me to keel onto my side, I couldn't do anything I just wanted the pain to stop but it continued. I tried to make sense of it, where it was coming from and why it was being caused?
“You never save a man destined to die,” said a voice above me, “he will die, if not here in the hospital.”
The pain began to subside and I could feel my muscle power returning, I glanced up to the voice holder and I spat when I realized it was him.
“You tried to break the natural law of the world,” he continued. “and in the end the only one that will suffer.”
he kneeled closer to me, his smile just hanging there above my head. “You even forced yourself back into the corporeal world, which as any of them can tell you have draw backs.”
I forced myself to my stand breathing deeply, “I.... dont.... care”
He rose to eye level looking into mine nodding, I watched him finding no strength the strength to reach for my coin. He noticed doing the same, but in my state I knew he would had the advantage.
“I dont care, I know who I was, maybe just a name, maybe just a job, but that was me, and with it I can find out so much more!” I shouted between each chest crushing breath, “I am remembering the man I was before you came along and took it all away from me. I was a doctor, I AM A DOCTOR!”
The mans smile faded, his eyes widening, “So what you'll go against the natural order to save lives even if it means taking your own?”
I nodded my heart burning with fire like never before the pain leaving my body, I straightened up. “I will save those who have a chance of life even if it means destroying any of those who cross my path!”
The man took a step back clearly not knowing how to react, “you're mad... you're clearly insane, this pain you just felt could you cope with it each and every time?”
I felt it deep inside, my humanity screaming from its cage, fighting to take back what death had robbed me off, “I will and if that means fighting death himself I WILL!”
He watched the shadows forming all around him, “you ignorant child death is no enemy of man... he is the one who put you on this path.”
“You put me on this path, you took away my life and now I do the same, But I remember what it meant to save lives!”
I lunged at the man pinning him to the wall, the look of shock and fear still filling my mind, “I will not kill those who have a chance, the ones that will die no matter the circumstance I will pass on but those. Children, injured or those still filled with hope I will save them. I will become an angel of mercy protecting them all from death bringers if I must.”
The man had enough and attempted to thrust his coin into my stomach, my hand was fast grasping his and twisting it away, slamming it repeatedly into the wall until the coin hit the stones below. I let go and swung my other fist into his face, he fell to the floor in shock of what I had done.
“You started all this but I and I alone chose the path I will follow, and that path is the one I worked so hard to start, the one of a healer NOT A MURDER!”
The man scrambled for his coin, but as he reached out I slammed my foot down his arm pinning him. I used my other leg to kick him back from it.
“You... you cant do this,” he pleaded, genuine fear in his eyes.
I grabbed him by the air pulling him up until our eyes met, I had lost all restraint. My humanity was free and it wasn't demanding his blood but what he had taken from me. I reached into my pocket pulling the coin out. He looked down in distress at his own as I headbutted him and staggered back.
“I am doctor Marcus Jones, and I will save all I can be they sick or injured, any of them come at me I will fight with all my heart!”
I quickly kicked the feet from under him then as he fell slammed my hand into his chest the coin burning into his skin, “AND NOT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE, NOT EVEN DEATH WILL CHANGE THAT!!!”
