he first annual Love Live Music Awards was last night and oh boy what a night it was! This was a project that I first heard about in May this year, but as I learnt more and more about the idea, it had actually been in the works for about a year.
Lamsie kept referring to it as “The Newport ‘Brit’ Awards,” which intrigued me from the get go and I knew I wanted to be involved. Little did I know I would end up being one of the valued members of the production team for the Love Live Music Awards.
August 17th we made the announcement that this ceremony was a thing, and ever since then my diary has been full of meetings, video shoots, editing days, judging, more meetings, press releases, social media, rehearsals, interviews and even more meetings! I had never been so busy in my life and I was loving every second of it! I am so thankful to have had this opportunity to help produce something spectacular like this. And when yesterday arrived, after zero sleep from all the excitement, I couldn’t quite believe that it was actually happening.
Our amazing hosts Kym Fredrick and Adam Prosser did an absolutely amazing job of running the show, along with the help of our “voice in the sky” Dan Price - whose impression of the X Factor voiceover man was mind-blowing! During every run through we had of the script, I knew the guys would smash it, but seeing and hearing everything come together on the big Neon stage was one of the proudest moments I have ever experienced.
I was slightly overwhelmed at how brilliantly Kym and Adam were, presenting and playing with the crowd and Dan’s X Factor voice booming through the speakers just made the night. I will never forget that moment when the show started and everything just fell into place. It felt magical.
Another one of my proudest moments came from last night - when I saw my name on that huge screen in front of a screaming crowd. Now, I know that scream wasn’t for me but for the people in the videos that were played at the ceremony, but they didn’t help the tears. I had been so pumped in the months and weeks building up to last night's show that it didn’t actually cross my mind that my video work was going to be shown to a venue full of people on a big screen with my name big and bold afterwards, until it happened.
We had some wonderful performances on the night too, from Bryony Suer, Pete Pork, Ben Yendle and Selena Jerome and then finally to close the show, a fabulous set from The Apple Tree Theory. Every performance was wonderful and everyone rocked that stage! I will never forget the conga line that was started during The Apple Tree Theory’s set! What a laugh!
The best part of the night had to be announcing the winner of the Best Original Song category. This was the only category that the public was able to vote for. They could vote everyday up until the very last minute! This was an elaborate plan we had early on and I still can’t believe it worked! The moment came when the voting closed, our techie Adam Edwards looked up the winner and ran down from the visuals projector to the stage with the golden envelope!
With the help of my intense pre-made visuals and suspenseful music, it felt like the whole room was on edge waiting for the winner of this special category. The room erupted when Robin Hall from our sponsors Kymin Financial Services Limited revealed the winner. Speaking of winners, shall I share with you everyone who won one of our gorgeous Cherubs?

Congratulations to all of the amazing winners - they are all well deserved. It’s insane how much talent is in Newport and the surrounding areas that I didn’t even know about until I was involved with this project. I am so proud to have been a part of something that highlights that. I am beyond proud of my fellow team members at Newport City Radio that all came together to pull off such an amazing event. Everyone continue what you are doing and we’ll see everyone next year! Oh yes, we’ll be back!
